QUINCY -- If Krystal Burgtorf had to be robbed of her spring golf season at William Woods University, she will take a city title in its place.

Burgtorf won her second Quincy City Women's Golf Championship on Sunday, shooting a 1-over 72 in the final round giving her a two-day total of 5-over 147. Laci Novosel took runner-up honors with a two-day total of 157, and Saya Geisendorfer came in third with a 160.

While a second city title of course made her weekend, Burgtorf just enjoyed the opportunity to compete.

"It was nice to have something a little more normal, especially since we are supposed to our season as normal in the fall," Burgtorf said. "It was nice to just get out here and play a tournament instead of coming out and practicing all the time."

Burgtorf had issues with her putter in the first round, leading to her opening 75, and the same issues crept up on the first three holes Sunday. On the fourth hole, however, Burgtorf built some momentum.

She drilled a length, downhill 30-foot birdie putt to expand her early lead to five shots, then she birdied the fifth hole after a solid up-and-down placed her four feet from the cup.

"That was definitely a confidence booster," Burgtorf said of her birdie on four. "Yesterday it seemed I couldn't get a putt in for anything, then I struggled with a few putts on the first three holes. When No. 4 fell, it was definitely a confidence booster and I knew I was still in it."

Burgtorf cruised to a 10-stroke victory the rest of the way, but as a former Quincy High School golfer she also enjoyed playing with the current crop of Blue Devils in Novosel, Geisendorfer and Paige Cain. "It's nice seeing how far the team has come along since I've left and how good the girls are becoming," she said. "They are only going to get better from here."
