EMERSON, Mo. -- A Palmyra woman was airlifted to University Hospital in Columbia after a crash Thursday involving a grain truck.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said that a 2010 Mazda CX7 driven by Destiny W. Bevans, 33, was heading west at 1:25 p.m. on Route M, 3 miles east of Emerson, when the vehicle ran off the left side of the road as a 1991 International Harvester grain truck driven by Joseph W. Swisher, 71, of Philadelphia, Mo., crested a hill. The patrol said Swisher attempted to avoid the vehicle, but they struck in the middle of the road.

Swisher was not injured in the crash.

The Marion County Sheriff's Department, Marion County Ambulance Service, Palmyra Fire Department and Air Evac assisted at the scene.
