Barry man arrested on failure to register as sex offender charge

PITTSFIELD, Ill. -- A Barry man turned himself into the Pike County Sheriff's Department on Monday after he reportedly failed to register as a sex offender.

Jason M. Rennecker, 37, was arrested on a charge of failure to register as a sex offender after the Pike County Sheriff's Department said it started an investigation after learning Rennecker did not register.

The Sheriff's Department said it attempted to arrest Rennecker on Tuesday at his home, but he was not there. After learning he was wanted, Rennecker turned himself at the Pike County Jail.

Rennecker posted bond and was released pending court appearance.
