SPRINGFIELD, Ill. -- The state's top law enforcement agency is looking for the next generation of Illinois State Police Troopers ahead of a Jan. 31 application deadline for the agency's upcoming cadet class.

To be considered for the cadet class, which is tentatively scheduled to begin on Aug. 2, interested individuals should submit a completed application and required documentation to the Illinois State Police Merit Board. Additional information about the application process, including updated education requirements, can be found online at www.illinoistrooper.com.

During their time at the academy, cadets are provided with cutting-edge training in a variety of law enforcement functions. Upon graduation from the training program, Troopers will have the opportunity to transition to one of the many specialities within the Illinois State Police. Those speciality functions include, but are not limited to, Crime Scene Services, the Equal Employment Opportunity Office, Investigations, Internal Investigations, SWAT, Air Operations, K 9 Handler, Motorcycle Unit, Medicaid Fraud Control Bureau, Executive Protection, and Academy Instructor.

If you have any questions about becoming an ISP Trooper and would like to speak with a Field Recruiter, please contact the ISP Recruitment Office.
