HANNIBAL, Mo. -- A home in Hannibal was a total loss after a fire Thursday night in Hannibal.
The Hannibal Fire Department was called at 7:11 p.m. to 514 Olive on a report of a structure fire. When crews arrived at the scene they reported heavy fire, and an incident command was established with an offensive attack taken.
All stations responded to the fire with additional off-duty firefighters called in.
The Fire Department said the fire was under control in approximately 15 minutes with crews remaining on the scene about two hours for salvage and overhaul operation.
No residents were home at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.
Hannibal Fire Department, the Hannibal Police Department criminal investigation division and Missouri State Fire Marshal investigations were called in to determine a cause, which remains under investigation.
The department reminded residents to make sure smoke detectors are in working order and that all families have an escape plan and meeting place in case of a fire.
Also assisting at the scene were the Hannibal Board of Public Works, the Hannibal building inspector's office, Liberty Utilities, the Red Cross and the Marion County Ambulance Service.
