February trial set for man accused of violating order of protection for teen who drowned

QUINCY -- A February jury trial was set for the Quincy man accused of violating an order of protection for a Quincy teenager who drowned Oct. 27.

Gage L. Patterson appeared briefly Wednesday in court for a status update in his three cases, including one where he faces two counts of armed criminal violence, one count of home invasion and two counts of aggravated domestic battery after he allegedly beat Kaylee Mehochko on July 25.

Patterson pleaded not guilty to the charges in August.

He also faces one count of aggravated domestic battery from May and another unrelated case. Patterson had been out on a $5,000 treatment bond since September when the car 16-year-old Mehochko was driving went into a pond at a Sherman golf course in Sangamon County. Patterson, who was a passenger in the vehicle, escaped to safety.

An order of protection was in place at the time. Patterson faces one count of violation of an order of protection in Sangamon County.

Patterson's next court appearance in Adams County is set for Jan. 15.

He is being held in the Adams County Jail on $600,000 bond.
