QUINCY -- A preliminary hearing has been set for a Quincy teen charged in the September shooting death of a Quincy man on the city's northwest side.

Court records show that Roger L. Parker will return to court Oct. 21 for a preliminary hearing after an appearance with his attorney, Chief Public Defender Todd Nelson, on Tuesday in Adams County Circuit Court

Parker, 16, faces three counts of first-degree murder in the shooting death of 18-year-old Darrell E. Kelley Jr. on Sept. 26 in the 600 block of Sycamore. He is being charged as an adult.

Parker turned himself in Sept. 27 at the Adams County Sheriff's Department, about 90 minutes after the Quincy Police Department announced he was a suspect in the shooting.

The Quincy Police Department said it responded to a report of a shooting about 5 p.m. in front of 612 Sycamore, where a man later identified as Kelley was found suffering from a gunshot wound. Kelley was taken to Blessing Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Parker is being held in the Adams County Juvenile Detention Center on $5 million bond.
