Carthage residents arrested after traffic stop

CARTHAGE, Ill. -- Two Carthage residents were arrested Monday morning after a traffic stop.

The Hancock County Sheriff's Department said a deputy stopped a vehicle at 11:22 a.m. at Madison and Buchanan in Carthage and found that two passengers had outstanding warrants.

Derek A. Miller, 25, was arrested on outstanding warrants in McDonough and Henderson counties for failure to appear. He also was arrested after the Sheriff's Department said he was found to be in possession of methamphetamine.

Kelly R. Miller, 40, was arrested on outstanding warrants in Hancock and McDonough counties for failure to appear and a warrant on first-degree theft out of Lee County, Iowa.

Both Derek and Kelly Miller were taken to the Hancock County Jail in lieu of bond.
