CARTHAGE, Ill. -- An investigation by Hancock County deputies led to the arrest and conviction of a man on sex-related charges.

Hancock County Sheriff Scott Bentzinger reports Jonathan D. Singletary, 23, pleaded guilty Monday and was sentenced to seven years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.

Singletary was arrested April 23 in the state of Georgia on a Hancock County warrant for the charge of aggravated criminal sexual abuse. Singletary subsequently was extradited back to Hancock County.

The charge stems from an investigation into a report received on April 17 that Singletary had engaged in a sexual relationship with a 13-year-old juvenile.

The sheriff's department was assisted by the Advocacy Network for Children, Hancock County State's Attorney's Office and the Illinois State Police Division of Forensic Services.
