CANTON, Mo. -- Culver-Stockton College is ranked among the top 20 colleges or universities nationwide for getting a job after graduation and topped the list in Missouri for the 2019 rankings.
Zippia, Inc., a California-based national resource website, does its annual rankings using public data from the U.S. Department of Education's College Scorecard tool (collegescorecard.ed.gov) and the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System. Zippia searches for colleges with the highest listed job placement ratings, looking specifically at employment levels 10 years past graduation. Zippia limited the analysis to the 46 public and nonprofit, four-year institutions in Missouri that offer at least a bachelor's degree.
Robin Jarvis, director of career and internship services at Culver-Stockton, said the ranking reflects the school's commitment to fully prepare students for careers.
"We offer our students an experiential learning environment so when they leave here they have the knowledge and skills to be successful in a professional setting," Jarvis said.
The faculty has been certified through the experiential learning academy and students often do internships or other work experience work to prepare for jobs.
The No. 1 school in the nation on Zippia's job placement list is Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Conn., which has a 96.1% placement rate. Culver-Stockton's placement rate was 94.39%.
C-SC's placement rate of 92.93% was No. 2 in the state last year.
