QUINCY -- A trailer is a total loss and a truck was significantly damaged in a fire Wednesday morning at Central Fire Station, 906 Vermont.

Deputy Chief Greg Dreyer said firefighters in the station were alerted at 4:21 a.m. after a Quincy Police officer saw smoke while driving by the station.

Dreyer said a fire demonstration display for the Citizens Fire Academy class rekindled overnight causing the trailer to ignite in the parking lot behind the station.

The fire demonstration display allows the department to show how fire develops, with one portion of the display showing how fire sprinklers suppress a fire and the other becoming fully involved.

Firefighters at the station were able to extinguish the blaze.
