QUINCY -- A Quincy man was arrested Tuesday on multiple charges related to an incident involving the alleged exploitation of a child in Pike County.

The Quincy Police Department said Jeffrey S. Peters, 48, was arrested on an outstanding Pike County warrant for indecent solicitation of a child, grooming and distribution of harmful material to a minor.

Police and the Pike County Sheriff's Department began working in conjunction on an investigation this month after authorities were made aware of "internet conversations" between an adult male from Quincy and a minor under 17 from Pleasant Hill.

At about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Peters was found and taken into custody without incident near 27th and Cherry streets in Quincy. He was taken to the Quincy Police Department and interviewed. A search warrant was then executed at Peters' residence at 432 Evergreen Drive West.

Peters was eventually turned over to Pike County deputies and taken to the Pike County Jail.
