One driver injured in two-vehicle crash in Monroe City

MONROE CITY, Mo. -- One person was injured when two pickup trucks collided at 9:29 p.m. Tuesday at the western edge of Monroe City in Marion County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said a northbound 1998 Chevrolet S-10 driven by David E. Mefford, 43, of Shelbina, stopped at a stop sign on Business U.S. 36. Mefford then pulled into the path of a 2012 Chevrolet pickup driven by Tara L. Hall, 47, of Riverton, Ill., who was heading east on U.S. 36.

Mefford was taken by Monroe City ambulance to Hannibal Regional Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Also assisting at the scene were the Monroe City Police Department and the Monroe City Fire Department.
