Radiology group contract not renewed with hospital

To The Herald-Whig:

As president of an independent diagnostic radiology practice that contracted with Blessing Hospital for much of the 1990s, I saw our six-partner group experience a difficult relationship with hospital management not unlike that described by Dr. Todd Petty in his letter to the editor March 3.

This led to failure of renewal contract negotiations and dissolution of our group of mostly fellowship-trained, subspecialized radiologists.

Quoting phrases from Petty's letter: "aggressive tactics, gross exaggerations, intentional misrepresentations, legal maneuvering, and fear-mongering methods;" "Blessing Health System doesn't listen;" "Its response to growth not engineered or controlled by it is seen as a threat."

Our practice had a very similar experience and reached very similar conclusions about the administrative culture of Blessing Hospital.
