CENTER, Mo. -- A student at Mark Twain High School was arrested after he reportedly made a threat towards the school.

Tyler M. Lanier, 17, of Center, was arrested on a charge of first-degree terroristic threats.

The Ralls County Sheriff's Department said Ralls County R-II School District officials contacted the department Sunday about an alleged threat toward Mark Twain Junior-Senior High School made on the social media app Snapchat.

The Sheriff's Department said other adults and a juvenile also have been interviewed as part of the ongoing investigation, and additional arrests are possible.

Students and parents reported the alleged threat, and the Sheriff's Department said that its relationship with the school district allowed for a quick action without the need to disrupt school.

An increased police presence was provided at the school Monday morning, with personnel from the New London Police Department, Center Police Department and the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
