JOLIET, Ill. -- Two Quincy High School wrestlers advanced to the semifinals in their respective weight divisions at the Class 3A Joliet Central Sectional on Friday night.
Hunter Yohn (40-2) earned a first-round bye, then pinned Noah Boles of Minooka in 1:36. He will wrestle in the semifinals against Jake Kendall of Planfield South.
Thomas Culp (42-1) also earned a first-round bye, then defeated Steven Fallon from Joliet West 10-3 in the quarterfinals. He will meet Jacob Cronk from Lincoln-Way West in the semifinals.
At 113 pounds, Blake Peter defeated Minook's Joseph Cecala by technical fall in 5:01, then lost in the quarterfinals to Providence New Lenox's Jake Lindsey by technical call in 4:34. Peter (36-7) will wrestle Saturday morning against Oswego's Logan Guerrero.
At 120 pounds, Hunter Carter lost 17-6 in his first match against Moline's Andrew Burkeybile. Carter (28-15) will wrestle Saturday morning against Nick Matthias from Providence New Lenox.
At 138 pounds, Matthew Peters lost his first match 7-0 to Luke Gardner of Tinley Park Andrew. Peters (32-12) will wrestle Sam Saravia of Oswego in the wrestlebacks on Saturday.
At 152 pounds, Kaleb Vahle was pinned in 3:42 by Plainfield North's Evan Smith in the first round. Vahle (29-17) will wrestle Jeremy Pullen of Joliet West in Saturday's wrestlebacks.
At 220 pounds, Lucas Bodi was pinned in 3:10 in his first-round match by Kenneth Hudson of Normal Community. Bodi (11-25) will wrestle Josh Anderson from Edwardsville in the wrestlebacks.
