McKENZIE, Tenn. -- Jonathon Lopez collected two of the five hits for the Culver-Stockton College baseball team in its season opening 3-0 loss to Bethel (Tenn.) on Friday afternoon at the Kahlden Complex.

Lopez was the only Wildcat to register multiple hits, and he had the only C-SC extra base hit when he doubled to start the third inning. However, on the next at bat Chase Jones grounded into a double play. C-SC starter Anthony Garcia allowed seven hits over 5 1/3 innings, walking two and striking out three.

Bethel's Jack Surber hit a solo home run in the fourth inning to take a 1-0 lead. In the fifth inning Bethel hit a two-run, two-out single to extended its lead to 3-0. C-SC (0-1) had the bases loaded in the sixth inning from an Alejandro Cardinale single, a walk to Jonny Damon and a walk to Sean McVeigh. However, Caleb Antonacci popped out and the threat was ended.
