Quincy City Council comments were shameful

To The Herald-Whig:

The City Council meeting on Monday was shameful to watch. A lot of whining was going on.

Besides insulting the mayor with "this is not honorable," Alderman Mike Farha went so far as to say, "We have a spending problem," then it appears he is voting to spend money to hire a lawyer to read one paragraph that any junior high student could explain. If the council wants to vote on aggregation, it could pass an ordinance to do so at no cost.

There is only one paragraph of any importance in Ordinance 12-38, and it clearly gives the mayor the authority to sign agreements. So either change it, or quiet down, folks. The council members apparently didn't read it when they passed it.

On the other hand, the city attorney should have apologized for not doing his research before telling the mayor it was wrong to sign it.

It's becoming more obvious we need to cut the council in half.
