NAUVOO, Ill. -- Nauvoo police have charged Abre Allen Kay of Keokuk, Iowa, with two counts of burglary, unlawful possession of a stolen vehicle, unlawful possession of methamphetamine and criminal damage to property.
Nauvoo Chief of Police Mike Boley said the arrest of Kay, 33, was the result of an investigation by the Nauvoo Police Department into the theft of two motor vehicles during the early morning hours of Saturday and Sunday in Nauvoo.
Boley reported that both vehicles reported stolen were recovered.
Kay is being held in the Hancock County Jail in lieu of a $50,000 bond.
The two counts of burglary and possession of a stolen vehicle are all Class 2 felonies. Unlawful possession of methamphetamine is a Class 3 felony and the criminal damage to property is a Class 4 felony.
Assisting the Nauvoo Police Department in the investigation were the Hancock County Sheriff's Department, Hamilton Police Department, Keokuk Police Department and the Hancock County State's Attorney Office.
