QUINCY -- John Wood Community College will offer free GED prep classes in Quincy, Mount Sterling and Pittsfield, Ill., starting Jan. 14.
The classes are offered through the JWCC Adult Education program, which helps students prepare for the high school equivalency GED test. The program also provides assistance with career planning and job skills.
Classes meet 9 a.m. to noon and 5 to 8 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays on the main campus in Quincy, 1301 S. 48th. Classes also meet at the Quincy Workforce Center, 107 N. Third, from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday.
Pittsfield classes meet from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Southeast Education Center, 39637 260th St., 2 miles north of Pittsfield on Highway 54.
Mount Sterling classes meet from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Mount Sterling Education Center, 108 N. Capitol St.
English as a Second Language classes also will begin Jan. 14 and will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday and Wednesday at the Quincy JWCC campus. Classes are free, but students are required to attend an orientation session prior to the first class.
