QUINCY -- Vermont Street United Methodist Church will host a concert featuring Christmas music starting at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, at 818 Vermont.
Many musicians from the church and community will perform traditional carols and instrumental arrangements of Christmas classics. The audience will sing carols during a few of the numbers.
The program is designed to provide a restful, peaceful interlude in a busy season. Special note will be made of the 200th anniversary of the writing of "Silent Night," and the Quincy connection to that carol.
Ann Behrens, organist and chancel choir director at the church, will coordinate the concert. Other instrumentalists include Sarah Boren on harp, Suzi Duker on flute, Jean Murray on clarinet, and a brass quintet comprised of Justin Bangert and Keith Wiemelt on trumpets, Michael Saul on horn, Gary Livesay on trombone and Alan Kanauss on tuba. The bell choir, directed by Jean Murray, and the chancel choir also will perform.
Cookies will be offered at a reception after the concert.
