QUINCY — After months of campaigning in some of the most bitter races in recent memory, candidates across the country placed their fates in the hands of voters Tuesday, with control of Congress and more resting in the balance.
In Illinois, the gubernatorial race was the most-watched contest. Democrat J.B. Pritzker was elected governor over Republican Gov. Bruce Rauner.
In the nationally-watched U.S. Senate race in Missouri, state Attorney General Josh Hawley defeated Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill.
