QUINCY -- Independent candidates who wish to file for the city's April election may start picking up candidate petitions at the city clerk's office on Tuesday, Sept. 18.
City Clerk Jenny Hayden said the petitions will be due back starting between Dec. 10 and 17.
Republican and Democratic candidates have been able to circulate petitions since Aug. 28. Candidates from those parties may file their petitions between Nov. 19 and 26.
Aldermanic seats in each of Quincy's seven wards will be filled in the April 2, 2019, consolidated election.
Hayden said the number of signatures required on candidate petitions vary by ward, based on a percentage of the number of voters who cast ballots in each ward during the 2017 election.
