DANVILLE, Ill. -- The Quincy Gems were held to just three hits in a 12-0 Prospect League loss to the Danville Dans Saturday night.

The loss is the sixth straight for the Gems (15-20), and the 11th loss in the last 12 contests.

Danville (18-16) scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning that was highlighted by an RBI single by Trevor Minder. An error in the outfield on the ball cleared the bases to give the Dans a 4-0 advantage.

The Dans added two more runs in the third on a wild pitch and a single. Danville scored six runs over the next three innings to put the game out of reach.

Danville had 13 hits, and none went for extra bases.

The Gems didn't have its first hit until Corey Young led off the third with a single. Matthew Waznis followed with a walk, but Danville's Blake Schilleci retired the next three batters to end the threat.

Cody Birdsong singled in the fourth, but was stranded. Aaron Campbell singled in the ninth, but Danville turned its third double play of the game to end the game.

Schilleci threw 41/3 scorless innings of relief to pick up the victory, allowing just two hits and striking out seven.

Quincy's pitchers Nick King, Ryan Jemar and Jimmy Huber combined for seven walks and four wild pitches.
