MENDON, Ill. -- Mady Wear hit two home runs to lead the Central softball team to a 6-0 victory over Southeastern in the Class 1A Unity Regional semifinals Tuesday afternoon.
After fouling off four straight pitches, Wear hit a 1-2 pitch over the right field fence for a 1-0 lead with one out in the bottom of the third inning. Her second home run also was a solo blast to left-center field in the sixth.
Wear's first home run kickstarted a three-run inning, which included Jesse Grawe's RBI single. Taylor Buss scored on an error in the fourth, and Grawe drove in another run later in that inning.
Wear, Jacey Nall, Kennady Marlow and Grawe all had two hits apiece. Nall struck out 12 batters and walked one. The only hit she allowed was a leadoff single to Molly Rea in the top of the seventh.
