LORAINE, Ill. -- A Quincy woman was taken to Blessing Hospital in Quincy after a two-vehicle crash Saturday morning near Loraine.

The Adams County Sheriff's Department said a 1997 Jeep SUV driven by Tanya S. Steele-Bennett, 47, was heading east on North 2800th, just east of East 1850th at 8:18 a.m. When cresting a hill, the Sheriff's Department said Steele-Bennett saw a 2011 Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck driven by Benard A. Kessler, 74, of Loraine, and braked, but the SUV collided with the front end of the truck. Both vehicles ended in a ditch on the south side of the road.

Steele-Bennett was taken to Blessing by the Adams County Ambulance Service. Two child passengers in her vehicle refused treatment and left with family members. Kessler reported no injuries.

Steele-Bennett was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash.

Also assisting at the scene were the Loraine and Mendon fire departments.
