n 100TH BIRTHDAY: Nellidene Fusselman Howell celebrated her 100th birthday on July 4. She was honored at a gathering held July 1 in Hull. Howell was one of six children whose mother lived to be 100 and she had a sister who lived to age 102. She attended Hull High School and graduated in 1930 with high grades automatically earning her a teaching certificate. She married Raymond Howell in 1931 and they raised five sons and two daughters, Richard, Ronald, Raydene, Rodger, Russell, Roberta and Kevin Ray. She had 18 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren. Howell was an avid gardener, a substitute teacher, cleaned homes, worked in apple orchard and was a nursing assistant. She was a lifetime member of PTA and played the pump organ in church from time to time. She was secretary of the local Democratic Party and attended the 1960 Democratic Convention in Los Angeles. She still lives on her own in Hannibal, Mo.

n 85TH BIRTHDAY: Gerald "Jerry" Doyle will celebrate his 85th birthday on Monday, Aug. 6, with his wife, Alice; sons, James of St. Louis, Jonathan of Houston,Texas, and Jeffrey of Quincy, and two granddaughters, Lindy and Zoe from Houston. Cards are welcomed and may be sent to 631 S. 11th, Quincy, Ill. 62301.
