The Lewis County Sherriff's Office has received several calls in the Canton, Mo., area regarding three individuals in a red pick-up truck who offered to sell and lay asphalt millings or to "chat" as part of a scam.

The three men are not part of a "legitimate enterprise," Chief Deputy Rob Power said in a Lewis County Sheriff's office news release. Reputable sellers would operate through a store front and wouldn't pressure anyone to buy products or let them install asphalt, the office said. The truck is reported to have Missouri license plates.

Power advises residents who hear from the individuals not to confront them but to contact the sheriff's office to report this scam or others like it.
