The Illinois State Police on Saturday finished reconstructing a single-vehicle accident that caused the death of a teenage girl and her younger brother Friday morning near the Quincy Regional Airport.

Adams County Chief Deputy Fred Kientzle said the state police will hand a report on the accident's cause over to the Adams County Sheriff's Department "in the next week or so." From there, Kientzle and deputies will review the new information.

State police reconstructed the accident to help determine its exact cause.

Cassaundra Clinging, 16, and her brother Chandler Clinging, 12, of rural Fowler died after their vehicle lost control about a mile north of Ill. 104 on the Paloma blacktop. Responders at the scene said the vehicle lost control and veered off the blacktop into the cemetery, hitting several tombstones, and burst into flame.

The crash site was at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery south of 1400th Avenue on East 1600th in Adams County.

The Central Adams County Fire District and Tri-Township Fire Department extinguished the resulting vehicle and grass fires. The Adams County Sheriff's Department, Adams County Coroner, Adams County Emergency Responders, Adams County Ambulance Service and Illinois State Police also assisted at the scene.

The Hansen-Spear Funeral Home is handling funeral arrangements for the Clingings.
