Sycamore Health Care no longer accepting Medicare payments
Published: 7/5/2012 | Updated: 5/18/2013

Sycamore Health Care Centre in Quincy has changed ownership and will no longer accept any Medicare patients, but no patients have moved as part of the change.

EMI of Chicago formerly owned the home. It was purchased last week by JLM Financial Investments based in Austin, Texas.

Jeff Ezell of JLM Financial Investments said Sycamore Operator, LLC, voluntarily ended its participation in the Medicare program last week and will no longer take any Medicare patients. No payment will be made by the Medicare program under this agreement for covered inpatient services furnished to patients admitted on or after June 28.

The skilled nursing care facility is located at 720 Sycamore.

"There were maybe three or four patients who had Medicare, and they could either be moved to a different nursing home or, during this stay, could go to Medicaid," Ezell said. "No patients were moved from the home."

Sycamore Health Care Centre has 92 residents. Employees will not notice any changes, Ezell said.

"If a patient came to us and was brought under the Medicare program, then we'd encourage them to go to another facility," Ezell said.
