EWING, Mo. -- A passing motorist discovered a fatal motorcycle accident Wednesday night on Route C, one-half mile north of Ewing.

Found dead was Benjamine C. Pratt, 63, of Ewing. The Lewis County Coroner Larry Arnold pronounced Pratt dead at 9:50 p.m. The Arnold's Funeral Home in Canton is handling the initial arrangements.

Authorities estimate the accident time at 8:50 p.m. Wednesday. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports Pratt was apparently thrown from the southbound 2001 Harley-Davidson after it ran off the west side of the road.

Assisting were the Lewis County Sheriff's Department, Ewing Fire Department and the Lewis County Ambulance Service.

This is the 21st fatal traffic accident in the patrol's 16-county Troop B area this year.
