CLAYTON, Ill. -- A Clayton man was airlifted to Blessing Hospital with moderate injuries after a car accident Saturday afternoon that authorities attributed to street racing.

Adams County Sheriff's deputies responded to reports of a one-car accident with injuries at 3:28 p.m. on the Clayton-Kellerville Blacktop, a half mile south of North 1600th Ave.

An investigation revealed that Zachary L. King, 19, of Clayton, and Morgan T. Knorr, 19, of Raytown, Mo., were drag racing north on the Clayton-Kellerville Blacktop when they met a vehicle on an hill. King lost control of his vehicle, which rolled multiple times, ejecting him. King was airlifted by Air-Evac, while an unnamed passenger was transported to Blessing Hospital by Adams County Ambulance with minor injuries.

Both King and Knorr were cited for reckless driving and street/drag racing.
