HANNIBAL, Mo. -- Hannibal Police responded Monday morning to a bomb threat at Wal-Mart, but officers are not saying if the threat is related to a number of Midwest Wal-Mart bomb threats.

The threat was received at the store in the River Bend Shopping Center at about 7:35 a.m. Hannibal Police Chief Lyndell Davis was unavailable for comment Tuesday afternoon.

It's not known what steps where taken, if any, by police. Wal-Mart managers in Hannibal referred all questions to the corporate office in Arkansas, and a message was not returned to The Herald-Whig seeking comment.

Bomb threats were made Friday evening to stores in at least eight Missouri communities. Several stores were evacuated but nothing was located.

Three Wal-Mart stores in Kansas were temporarily closed Sunday after bomb threats were called in.
