Several escape apartment fire at 1030 Vermonyt

Several people were safely evacuated from a fire in an apartment in a multi-unit apartment complex at 1030 Vermont about 9 p.m. Sunday. No one was injured.

The fire started in the living room of the second-story apartment.

The cause is undetermined, Quincy Fire Chief Joe Henning said.

The fire was confined to the living room of the one apartment, but there was smoke damage to the other areas of the building and water damage to the first floor. Frank Sakulenzki is the owner of the builiding.

Firefighters were on the scene until 12:07 a.m. Monday.
