The engagement of Clare Shih-Chi Lee and Matthew Aaron Helmer, both of Tokyo, Japan, has been announced by his parents, Joseph and Cynthia Helmer of 1405 Payson Ave. Miss Lee is a daughter of Ting Yuch and Theresa Lee of San Francisco. The bride-elect attended Montgomery Blair High School in Silver Spring, Md., and graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Md., with a bachelor of science degree and a master of engineering degree in computer science. Miss Lee is a senior consultant at Murex. The prospective bridegroom attended Quincy High School and graduated from Northwestern University in Evanston with a bachelor of arts degree in mathematics. Mr. Helmer is corporate manager of planning at Groupon Japan. The couple will be married July 7 in San Francisco.
