Barb and Harold Vahle

Barb and Harold Vahle of 2011 Hilltop Drive will celebrate 50 years of marriage at the 4:30 p.m. Mass July 28 in St. Francis Catholic Church. Their children will host an open house in their honor from 2 to 4 p.m. July 29 in the lower level of the Knights of Columbus. Family and friends are invited; no gifts are requested.

The couple also plans a trip later this year.

Mr. Vahle and the former Barb Reinold were married July 28, 1962, in St. Francis Catholic Church.

Mrs. Vahle is a daughter of the late Fred and Lucille Reinold. Mr. Vahle is a son of the late Elmer and Eloise Vahle.

They are the parents of Ted (Tammy) Vahle and Susie (Jim) Keller, all of Quincy, and Jim Vahle of Lee's Summit, Mo. They have five grandchildren.

Mr. Vahle retired in 1995 from Huck Fixture Co. after 25 years of employment and retired in 2006 from Shopko stores after 11 years of service. He is a member of American Legion No. 37 and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoys golf and following their grandchildren in sports.

Mrs. Vahle, a homemaker, is also retired. She volunteers for the Ladies Auxiliary of St. Vincent Home and the food pantry of Catholic Charities. She enjoys following their grandchildren's activities.

They are members of St. Francis Catholic Church, where he is a member of the Holy Name and she is a member of the Ladies of St. Francis.

The couple met in the Adams County recorder's office, where she was working at the time.
