Gerald and Mary Rabe

Gerald and Mary Rabe of 3604 Lindell have observed their 60th wedding anniversary. A trip is planned later in the fall.

The couple was married June 28, 1952.

Mrs. Rabe is the former Mary Shrader, daughter of the late Charles and Frances Shrader. Mr. Rabe is a son of the late Chris and Katherine Rabe.

They are the parents of a son, Bruce Rabe, and a daughter-in-law, Jean, of Tolono.

Mr. Rabe was employed by Electric Wheel and Firestone Tire and Rubber Co. for 34 years, retiring in May 1983. He was a member of the United Auto Workers and a former member of the West Quincy Gun Club, Hunting and Fishing Club and Twin Oaks Club. He spent two years in the Navy during World War II aboard the USS Duluth and USS Bremerton, serving in the South Pacific and Australia. Mr. Rabe went on the Great River Honor Flight in 2011.

Mrs. Rabe was employed by International Shoe Co. for 10 years and worked in retail stores for several years.

The Rabes attend Melrose Chapel United Methodist Church. They have traveled all over the United States in their motor home, spending three months in Texas and Florida for 25 years, and have traveled throughout Canada and Alaska.
