Simon and Cheryl Thrower

Simon and Cheryl Thrower of Ewing, Mo., will mark their 35th wedding anniversary. Last fall they enjoyed a trip to visit their son Joshua's family in France.

Mr. Thrower and the former Cheryl Metzger were married May 14, 1977, in the First Baptist Church in Springfield.

Mrs. Thrower is a daughter of Mary Dahlkamp of Springfield and the late Frank Metzger Jr. Mr. Thrower is a son of Emma Thrower of Independence, Mo., and the late Simon Thrower Sr.

They are the parents of Joshua (Kimbre) Thrower of France, Samuel (Amanda) Thrower of Maryville, Mo., and Joseph (Julie) of Hannibal, Mo. They have six grandchildren.

Mr. Thrower retired in February 2011 from AT&T after 35 1/2 years of employment. He is an R-4 volunteer fireman, first responder, a member of the Lewis County Dive Team, a church deacon and a volunteer church youth worker.

Mrs. Thrower was an elementary school teacher in Knox County, Lewis County and Quincy Christian Schools until her cancer diagnosis. She works fighting leukemia and diabetes and enjoys her grandchildren and church activities.

They are members of First Baptist Church in Ewing.
