    Bruce Gardner was awarded Volunteer of the Year by the Gem City “Breakfast” Kiwanis for the many volunteer hours he has contributed to the community and to the club this past year. Gardner also was recently elected vice president of the Gem City Breakfast Kiwanis Club.

    State Street Bank and Trust hosted a customer appreciation barbecue in October that served not only to thank its customers for their commitment, trust and loyalty, but also to give back to the community. The event was open to the public at 48th and Broadway. Lunch attendees were asked to donate a canned good or $1 to aid a local food pantry. The monetary donation of $175 and several boxes of non-perishable food items were presented to Luther Memorial Church’s food pantry on Nov. 7.

    People enjoy a home cooked Thanksgiving Dinner at the First Baptist Church in Canton, Mo. A free dinner for the community to enjoy will be served on Nov. 24, 2011, from 11:30 AM - 1:30 PM.
