Prep roundup: Panthers bounce back, hand Saukees first loss

The Central volleyball team rallied from a five-point deficit in the first set Thursday night and handed Pittsfield its first loss of the season with a 25-22, 25-21 victory in Camp Point, Ill.

The Saukees scored the first four points of the match and led 7-2 before the Panthers began to rally. Despite losing sophomore Kayleigh Fessler to injury during the first set, Central completed the rally. The Panthers (6-6) led by six to eight points for a majority of the second set and used a run on Chloe Turner's serve to finish off the upset.

Mady Wear led Central with six kills, while Audrey Shanholtzer had nine service points, three aces and three digs. Dacey Shore had 15 assists and four digs.

Hannibal 2, Mexico 0: Kaylee Falconer had four kills, six assists, six digs and aces to help the Pirates to a 25-18, 25-15 North Central Missouri Conference victory at Korf Gym in Hannibal, Mo. Maddie Janes and Kyler Rademen combined for 13 digs for the Pirates (4-0, 2-0 NCMC).

Payson Seymour 2, Brussels 0: Riley Epperson had 15 kills as the Indians bounced back from Wednesday night's three-set loss to Quincy Notre Dame with a 25-20, 25-17 victory in Brussels, Ill. Cassie Eidson added 22 assists for Payson (9-5).

Southeastern 2, Western 0: Alivia Lantz had 12 kills and three aces to lead the Suns to a 25-23, 29-27 victory in Augusta, Ill. Hope Cheney added nine kills and Molly Rea had 10 assists for Southeastern. Tori Dredmore led the Wildcats with 11 kills.

Lewistown 2, Illini West 0: Gracie McDowell had 12 digs and six kills but the Chargers lost 25-16, 25-17 in Carthage, Ill. Kendra Johnson and Karli Artman each had nine assists for Illini West (10-4).

Carrollton 2, Pleasant Hill 0: The Hawks won 25-10, 25-19 in Pleasant Hill, Ill. Kaylee Smith had three points and four digs for the Wolves (2-9).

Quincy Notre Dame 2, Brown County 0: The Raiders won 25-7, 25-15 in Mount Sterling, Ill. Bre Gooding led the Hornets (5-8) with five digs. No stats were provided for QND.
