QUINCY -- Quincy Books will move out of the Quincy Mall next week and reopen in the Quincy Commons shopping center under the name Quincy Books and Toys.

Angie Cromie has been manager of the store since it opened Sept. 19, 2011. She said it seems appropriate that the new store will open between HyVee and Hobby Lobby on Wednesday, Sept. 19.

"I think it will be a better location. We'll have parking much closer to our front door. Change is good," Cromie said.

With more floor space, the business will add learning toys and new activities.

"We'll be able to do more, like we can have more local authors come in. We'll have tables and chairs, and we'll do book readings for the kids. We may start a book club," Cromie said.

Hours of operation also will change. Quincy Books is open now from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. At the new store, Cromie expects hours to be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Cromie said there has been a bookstore at the mall "probably since it opened," but the foot traffic has fallen and that prompted the move.

"We're closing on Monday in the mall and should open on Wednesday" at the new location, Cromie said.
