Teen injured in Pike County crash

NEW HARTFORD, Mo. -- A New Hartford teen was injured in a Monday morning crash in Pike County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports a 2001 Oldsmobile Intrigue driven by Skylar J. Summitt, 18, of Bowling Green, was northbound on Mo. 161, north of County Road 420, at 9:05 a.m. The patrol said the vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway, struck an embankment and became airborne.

A passenger in the vehicle, Joseph S. Shultz, 17, of New Hartford, was taken by Air Evac to Mercy Hospital St. Louis with moderate injuries.

The patrol said Summitt was wearing a seat belt, but Shultz was not.
