Palmyra sprinter places sixth in 100-meter finals

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- Jarom Alexander of Palmyra placed sixth in the Missouri Class 3 boys 100-meter dash during Saturday's finals of the state track and field championships at Adkins Stadium.

Alexander ran a time of 11.26 seconds. Kemeric Winston of Trinity Catholic won the event in 10.86.

Alexander's sixth-place finish gave Palmyra the only three points it scored during the meet. The Panthers finished in a tie for 41st place. Cardinal Ritter won the team championship with 72 points.

Brock Boulware of Palmyra placed 11th in the 800 in a time of 2:02.81.

Hannibal competed in three events on Saturday in the Class 4 state meet.

The Pirates' girls 4x800 relay team of Autumn Bigsby, Alayna Pipkin, Claudia Nichols and Elle Hudelson placed 10th in 9:53.61. Nichols was 11th in the 3,200 in 12:09.17.

Ayden Nichols placed 15th in the boys 1,600 with a time of 4:35.83.
