Uhlmeyer's relief effort send North Shelby to district title game

SHELBYVILLE, Mo. -- Mason Uhlmeyer pitched two innings of scoreless relief, and after a two-run homer by Wellsville's Kollin McCoy in the seventh inning, he returned to the mound and recorded the final three outs as North Shelby won 7-5 in the semifinals of the Class 1 District 12 tournament on Tuesday night.

North Shelby (10-6) will play Silex for the district title on Wednesday at Laddonia.

The Raiders scored first on a bases-loaded walk in the first. After Wellsville scored a run in the bottom of the first, Uhlmeyer had an RBI single and Dayton Mettes hit a two-run homer in the second inning for North Shelby.

An RBI single by Si Presson put the Raiders ahead 5-1 in the third, but Wellsville answered with back-to-back homers in the bottom of the third. Kirby Latimer hit an RBI double and later scored on an error in the fourth for the Raiders.
