To The Herald-Whig:
Recently, I read an article by Michael Gerson in the Washington Post headlined "The cowardice among Republicans is staggering."
Gerson, a Republican who worked in the George W. Bush administration, pulls no punches in blaming Congress as it "watches as Trump makes the executive branch his personal fiefdom," and as "it stands by -- or cheers -- as the president persecutes law enforcement professionals for the performance of their public duties."
Gerson also calls Paul Ryan a "tool" and uses the word "lickspittle" to describe the Republicans in charge of the U.S. House.
John F. Kennedy's book "Profiles in Courage" collects dust in the Republican library and is only glanced at by those who decided to retire and show the remnants of a spine.
