Liberty boys and girls, Carthage boys advance to IESA state meet

LIBERTY, Ill. -- Cannen Wolf and Logan Robbins finished in third and fourth place at the Illinois Elementary School Association Class 1A cross country sectional on Saturday at Uhland Acres, and they helped the Liberty boys team win the sectional title.

Carthage finished in third place, with Cole Kirkham taking sixth with a time of 12:11. Both Liberty and Carthage will run at the IESA state meet next Saturday at Maxwell Park in Normal.

Wolf finished the course in 12:02, and Robbins' time was 12:05. Other Liberty runners were Jackson Tenhouse (ninth, 12:15), Gavin Fessler (12th, 12:19), Lucas Obert (18th, 12:48), Carter Holt (23rd, 12:54) and Lance Heitholt (25th, 13:08).

Other Carthage runners were Logan Peel (10th, 12:16), Lance Belshaw (11th, 12:18), Jacob Long (15th, 12:30), Andrew Long (38th, 14:06), Hayden Wood (47th, 15:45) and Jackson Klingler (48th, 15:46).

Qualifying as an individual was Unity's Zach Steinkamp, who placed 13th with a time of 12:25.

The Liberty girls placed second at the sectional and also will advance to the state meet in Normal. Arianna Neisen had the best time for Liberty, placing fifth in 13:19. Maddy Gibbs was sixth with a time of 13:24.

Other Liberty runners were Larissa Neisen (ninth, 13:30), Kayla Scoggan (22nd, 14:31), Makenna Zanger (31st, 15:23), Anna Wheelock (32nd, 15:27) and Ally Lefringhouse (37th, 16:19).

Carthage's Kaydee Kirkham also qualified as an individual after she placed eighth with a time of 13:30.
