Gerald "Joe" and Darlene M. Wietholder of 1221 N. 2600th Ave., Mendon, Ill., will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a Mass of thanksgiving at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 8 at St. Edward Catholic Church in Mendon, followed by a family dinner. Also on Oct. 8, their children will host an open house in their honor from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. in St. Edward Church Hall. Family and friends are invited; they request no gifts.
Mr. Wietholder and the former Darlene M. Flick were married Oct. 7, 1967, at St. Brigid Catholic Church in Liberty, Ill.
Mrs. Wietholder is a daughter of the late Lewis and Gertrude Flick of Liberty. Mr. Wietholder is a son of the late Lawrence Sr. and Caroline Wietholder of Mendon.
They are the parents of Tammy (Tommy) Davis and Rob (Tina) Wietholder, all of Mendon, Cindy Jo (Tim) Venvertloh of Quincy and Julie (Carl) Heinecke of Golden, Ill. They have seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Mr. Wietholder retired from Knapheide Manufacturing Co. and is a grain and livestock farmer. He is a member of the Adams County Farm Bureau.
Mrs. Wietholder is a float teacher at the Lauretta M. Eno Blessing Early Learning Center.
They are members of St. Edward Catholic Church in Mendon, where Mrs. Wietholder is a eucharistic minister, and enjoy working together on their hobby farm.
The couple met at a round and square dance at St. Edward Church Hall in Mendon. They were married three years later.
