George and Marilyn Barry, of Liberty, Ill., will be honored for their 60th wedding anniversary with an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. Oct. 1 at St. Brigid Church Hall in Liberty. Family and friends are invited; they request no gifts. They will also celebrate with a family dinner at the Patio.
Mr. and Mrs. Barry were married Sept. 28, 1957, at St. John Catholic Church in Quincy.
Mrs. Barry, the former Marilyn Jansen, is a daughter of the late Edmund and Frances Jansen. Mr. Barry is a son of the late Andrew and Clara Barry.
They are the parents of Ronald (Rose) Barry, Robert Barry, David (Kay) Barry, Joyce (Steve) Klingele and Richard (Kris) Barry, all of Liberty, Jeanne (Dennis "Gus") Dietrich of Quincy and Janet Barry of Payson, Ill. They have 19 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; a grandchild is deceased.
Mr. Barry was Liberty Township road commissioner for 20 years and is a semi-retired farmer. He has been an active member of the Liberty Lions Club for 35 years.
Mrs. Barry retired from Liberty Community Unit School.
They are members of St. Brigid Catholic Church in Liberty.
