To The Herald-Whig:

In the Sept. 12 edition of The Herald-Whig, a gentleman commented on the Illinois estate tax that so many citizens fear and detest. The tax applies to so few because of a simple reason that the letter did not mention.

Illinois allows a $4 million exemption to the estate tax. The federal government allows a $5.49 million exemption. This fact should reassure all Illinois residents that they will not be "robbed" by the government of their estates.
