Jim and Elaine Genenbacher of 1247 E. 1500th Ave., Quincy, were honored for their 55th wedding anniversary with a family dinner Saturday at Kelly's Tavern, hosted by their children.
Mr. Genenbacher and the former Elaine Mettemeyer were married Sept. 15, 1962, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fowler, Ill.
Mrs. Genenbacher is a daughter of the late Albert and Alta Mettemeyer. Mr. Genenbacher is a son of the late Elmer and Mildred Genenbacher.
They are the parents of Jeanna Roe (Lance) of Liberty, Ill., Barb Holtmeyer (Matt) of Quincy, Tim Genenbacher of Fowler and Janice Zanger (Mike) of Quincy. They have 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Mr. Genenbacher retired from Moorman Manufacturing Co./ADM after 38 years of service. He is a member of the Knights of Columbus and enjoys woodworking, gardening and working a small farm.
Mrs. Genenbacher retired from Jack's Discount and Quincy Farm and Home Supply. She enjoys reading and traveling to local casinos.
They are members of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fowler and enjoy attending their children's and grandchildren's life events.
The couple met when they attended the same church, 4-H dances and socialized with friends at Vic's Tavern.
